Stock Seed Warehouse Technician

JOB SUMMARY: Assist with the operations of a warehouse including receiving, stocking, and processing and distributing seed materials.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES*: 

  • Locates seed from receiving into appropriate locations and completes required data entry and paperwork. 
  • Pulls and prepares seed materials for various processes within the warehouse and supplies to work centers. Pulls and prepares seed materials for shipment. 
  • Performs daily cycle counts, completes required data entry and reports results to Inventory Lead and Stockseed Manager on a daily basis Helps in investigation of issues and to resolve discrepancies. 
  • Pulls and prepares germ samples for cyclic updates on a monthly basis. 
  • Performs inventory movements and completes required data entry. 
  • Locates seed from receiving into appropriate locations and completes required data entry and paperwork. 
  • Responsible to maintain storage areas in a clean and orderly condition; and ensure security of storage areas. 
  • Assists in other areas of the Supply Chain Departments as requested. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Must have excellent visual discrimination and manual dexterity. 
  • Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Establishes good working relationships among peers and staff to maximize productivity and good will. 
  • Must be available to work weekends, overtime, and varying shifts as requested.
  • Must wear a company issued uniform during work hours.  
  • Must have ability to do accurate detailed work under time constraints and deadlines and must have ability to adjust to seasonal surges in workload. 
  • Must have ability to read and understand written instructions in English. 
  • Must have ability to safely operate, maintain and perform minor repairs on forklifts and other warehouse machinery.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND: 

  • Prior forklift operation experience desired. 
  • Minimum one year warehouse or related work experience preferred. 
  • Seed industry or agricultural background desirable. 

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Must be able to work around chemicals and other irritating substances.
  • Must adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the areas he/she is working in. 
  • Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to work overtime, shifts and weekends as needed. 
  • Must be able to work at times under stressful conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in dusty hot or cold conditions.  
  • Must have ability to comply with all standard safety rules and practices.
