Senior Accountant

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparation of standalone financial statement and related schedules. Preparation and review of monthly journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and other key projects. Duties include performing a variety of accounting task, applying accepted accounting principles in the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:

  • Preparation of ALFCO Financial Statements and Reporting including monthly closing process, reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, preparing, and reviewing journal entries, financial statements, consolidations, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in month-end close activities including the preparation and review of journal entries, month-end close schedule, and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Fixed asset and CIP management and related transactions. Preparation of depreciation, amortization calculations and approved appropriation control including fixed asset verification process.
  • Corporate credit card management and related transactions including new user set-up, inquiry, analysis, reporting, compliance, and journalizing of credit card activities in accordance with the corporate credit card agreement and company policies.
  • Preparation of bad debt and sales return reserve calculation.
  • Coordination and preparation of property tax calculations. Understand property tax regulations and filings.
  • Coordinates the capital budget/forecast, capital acquisition, and reporting process.
  • Preparation of PBC schedules for quarterly reviews, year-end audit, and tax returns; and assist manager with other auditor requests.
  • Assist in compliance reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Assess internal controls including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas, and preparation of annual compliance documents. Monitor proper internal controls for all accounting cycles to secure the company’s overall corporate governance and comply with SOX/JSOX requirements.
  • Performs various daily routine responsibilities. Audit and proof accounting reports for clerical accuracy, adhering to standard accounting principles and to the company’s procedures. Assist in special projects as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of accounting practices; strong technical accounting background; ability to perform and review journals with detail and accuracy; and ability to prepare financial and other records in a systematic, accurate, and legible manner.
  • Strong Excel skills and must be able to utilized/manipulate programs to create spreadsheets, charts, and merge program data.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Highly motivated team player: self-starter, organized, and detail oriented; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other employees of the company; and be able to work independently on a team environment
  • Ability to manage stress especially when encountering necessary projects, deadlines and/or high workload.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • CPA license preferred

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:

  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with general ledger experience.
  • MS Excel Proficient; familiarity with MS D365 is a plu

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to sit, and work at a computer terminal and computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work under strict time constraints and requirements.

  • Salary: $85,000-$90,000 per year
