JOB SUMMARY: It is expected of this position to efficiently supervise, facilitate, and operate equipment utilized by the Logistics Department within both the Woodland and Morgan Hill California sites. Activities include (but are not limited to) any of the processes in operations related to preparing seed for delivery to the customer, which includes receiving, drying, cleaning, sizing, inventory, treating, packaging, and sampling activities. The main area of focus of this position will be the direct supervision and implementation of Seed Enhancement staff and Processes, including disinfection, priming, pelleting, and treating of both vegetable and flower seeds. This position will be expected to keep the work area, warehouse, and the facility clean and organized. Participation in the maintenance of assigned equipment is expected. This position will be a working lead position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:
- Directly supervise employees in: Seed Enhancement. (ADP, Schedules, Temporary workers)
- Efficiently run and clean required seed conditioning, seed enhancement and packaging equipment in the Logistics Department.
- Responsible for ensuring clean ups between varieties are checked and signed off to ensure no cross contamination will occur.
- Cooperate with Managers and staff to complete seed priming and quality enhancement projects on a timely basis.
- Ordering and inventory of supplies, monthly inventory and setting reorder thresholds to determine when ordering is necessary.
- Preparation of a monthly status report due each month and sent to both the Assistant Manager and the Senior Ops Manager.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment in the Logistics Department.
- Meet or exceed established target throughput for assigned area(s) while maintaining our quality requirements.
- Seek adjustments on the schedule to accommodate workload. Be proactive in meeting the scheduled deadlines.
- Support other Logistics workstations or company departments during slow times as assigned or approved by the Assistant Ops Manager. Additional responsibilities may be required while working in other departments.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly workstation. Proactively assist other areas in the department to maintain cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
- Comply with SAI, State and Federal Safety requirements and promote company programs that can minimize injuries, lost time, product loss and damage.
- The Ops Managers may assign additional tasks as needed.
- Follow all SAI quality assurance, policies and procedures as follows but not limited to this list:
* Be aware of and personally follow all SAI policies and procedures.
* Raise issues with Assistant Ops Manager when policies or procedures are not clear or not working.
* Keep Assistant Ops Manager informed of critical tasks not done.
* Keep Assistant Ops Manager informed of issues developing.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must have excellent visual, mathematical, and judgmental skill.

- Must have ability to learn the technical aspects of seed treating process.
- Must have ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery and equipment.

- Strong character traits required including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, and honesty.
- Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs and working with the Maintenance personnel to ensure completion.
- Must have ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
- Performs and/or is responsible for overseeing the completion of the required daily, weekly, monthly, and annual procedures within the warehouse and the accurate filing of the required reporting involved.
- Act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
- Maintains workplace area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
- Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- This position must be flexible where changing business needs are concerned and must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective leader.

- Must be self-motivated and be able to work with very little oversight from Management.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- High school or college science courses desirable.
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
- Minimum two year’s experience in the seed industry preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have ability to lift up to 55 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
- Must be able to work with chemicals and other irritating substances.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment and uniforms on a daily/regular basis.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in dusty, hot, and cold conditions.
- Must be available to work overtime during busy times of year and work weekends as required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Salary: $65,000- $80,000 per year
