Facilities Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the office cafeteria and conducting light maintenance work at the Woodland, California office and other assigned areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with all company safety regulations and procedures.
  • Escalates safety issues as necessary to resolve them.
  • Coordinates work internally and externally as needed to get work done.
  • Interacts with colleagues, vendors and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

Custodial/Groundskeeping

  • Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties of the employee cafeteria/break room, pavilion, or any event designated areas.
  • Ensures heating and cooling systems (including those that maintain food temperatures) are operational.
  • Restocks vending machines and snacks
  • Provides regular service (restocking, regular cleaning, scheduling repairs, etc) of coffee and water dispensers throughout the site.
  • Ensures that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked and MSDS are up-to date and available for all chemicals stored in cleaning supply area.
  • Assists in event set-up and tear-down for events taking place in the cafeteria.
  • Performs light repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
  • Performs limited grounds maintenance such as pressure washing, hedge trimming, ground sweeping, etc.
  • Drives vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including industrial trucks, vans, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • Assists the maintenance team as needed on miscellaneous projects and minor repairs throughout the facility.
  • Performs inspections and other routine maintenance to prevent and resolve safety or comfort issues.
  • Reports or escalates any issues to the maintenance manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Food Handler’s Permit, or the ability to get one.
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing with, vendors, supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Basic plumbing and mechanical equipment skills.
  • At least one year of experience in custodial and/or groundskeeping work is strongly recommended.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have ability to safely operate and perform minor repairs on equipment, including but not limited to: Forklifts, Landscaping equipment, pressure washers, Floor cleaning machine (indoor/outdoor), utility vehicles, and multiple types of power equipment and hand tools.
  • Must be able to safety wear PPE as appropriate for the task, including but not limited to:
    • Uniform (supplied by Sakata)
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift/and or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to work in variable conditions and environments, both inside and outdoors.
  • Must be able to work around or with chemicals or other irritating substances.

Schedule/ Workload

  • Must be available for morning/night/weekend work outside of regular business hours as necessary to complete work.
